Who We Are..

Harmony is a registered charity, charity number 1129290. Over the ten years that we have been operating it has seen a lot of changes & developments to its structure. We are most associated with the long list of diverse musical talent which has emerged through the various projects and workshops taking place over the years. We recently opened a new youth centre in Wigan town centre, it was opened in November 2013 and has the following:

  • Recording studio's.
  • Gym & fitness area.
  • IT Facilities.
  • Photography & Video Suite.
  • Hair & Beauty Salon.

We now operate mainly as a provider of an Alternative Curriculum for schools and has been given the opportunity to become an official NOCN body (National Open College Network). This enables young people who come through Harmony to receive accreditations for their hard work which earn them ‘credits’ which are nationally recognised and can help get them into college/further education. Harmony Media Centre now plays host to three diverse departments which all handle different activities, projects & workshops : ‘B-Muzik’, ‘Venus Project’ & ‘Fit For Life’.

B-MuziK was set up at Harmony Media Centre in 2011 and was developed by a group of dedicated young people who regularly attended workshops and activities in the building. B-MuziK is now a Registered Charity in its own right. The main aim is to deliver innovative and creative multimedia projects to inspire the young people of Bolton. Over the last year the organisation has flourished and has helped organise a number of events around Bolton which demonstrate their excellent talent B-MuziK has also a number of unsigned local artists complete portfolios which showcase their talent/ability.
B-MuziK specialises in multimedia activities of all descriptions. Popular qualifications include : Music Production, Video & Film Making, Photography & Imaging, DJ Tuition & Rap Workshops.

Only delivering typically male orientated activities is a thing of the past! Harmony Media Centre now plays host to ‘The Venus project’ and features a brand new Hair Salon with fitted backwashes, Nail Art & Beauty & Arts & Craft Rooms. The sessions are managed by qualified hairdressers Diane Shuttleworth & Joanne Thommason and the department has significantly grown in popularity since it started last year!
The Venus Project delivers NOCN Qualifications in: Unisex Hair Dressing, the Use of Colour and Health & Beauty.

Fit For Life is a relatively new addition to Harmony Media Centre and is designed to show young people the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet. We will help them to learn how to use a variety of fitness equipment safely and correctly and learn all about the importance of nutrition.
Fit For Life also delivers NOCN Qualifications in: Circuit Training, Indoor Sports, Street Dance , Healthy Eating, Basic Cookery & Much More!

Want to Volunteer?

Harmony and all its departments are always looking for dedicated volunteers to help run the various projects and activities which take place both in and outside the Centre. It is a great chance to get first-hand experience of dealing with young people and being in a working environment. We offer a variety of flexible volunteer placements.

We also award Certificates to our volunteers which would be an excellent addition to their CV/Record Of Achievement. If you think you know someone who has what it takes to be a Youth Worker then why not get in contact with us and make it happen!
